A few weeks ago, I sent an e-mail to some of my Grandex buds about my favorite products currently on ManOutfitters.com. They didn’t solicit this particular list of items, but since I’ve known them, each of the guys I included had occasionally requested my advice on something fashion or style related. These requests do not uniquely come from my co-workers either. Among all of my friends, one of the things I’m consistently known for is dressing well, and I’ve helped a lot of them over the years make good sartorial decisions.
When this “Spring Style” list was mentioned by Dillon, Dave, and Will on an early episode of the Touching Base PGP Podcast, a few of you guys asked for it to be shared on our sites. Now, full disclosure, if you weren’t aware already, Grandex does own Man Outfitters — so while the following is going to have an advertorial feel to it, I legitimately vouch for all of the following items. Everything you’ll see below would make a great addition to any guy’s wardrobe.
As you may have heard me mention on PGP’s Touching Base podcast, switching up from the routine khaki chinos is a great way to inject some new flavor in to your casual outfits. A light grey pant looks way more modern than khaki and matches well with both black and brown. These are easy to dress up or down as well.
If you haven’t tried Stance socks, you should. They’re awesome for doing just about anything. I wear mine with everyday clothes and also to work out. The kids like pairing them casually with shorts and sneakers to show off the designs, but you can just let yours peek out from denim or chinos or flaunt the mid-calf look at the gym.
J Brand Kane Stretch Twill Pants
These are going to fit like jeans, but feel more like pants, making them a sweet hybrid. This color goes with everything, and the Kane fit is flattering on everybody. It’s not too slim, but it’s still a really modern cut. In other words, your girlfriend might notice your butt when you wear these. If you’re a size 30, 32, or 38 (and J Brand can run a size big), check out the “Light Army” color. Olive and military greens are the hottest colors going right now.
Jack Spade Gingham SS Button Down
Jack Spade makes a killer short sleeve button down. The length is perfect for wearing untucked and the sleeves fall at a perfect spot too, two to three inches above the elbow. I like that they did this gingham with a light pink instead of white, giving it a little added flavor. At this point, every dude owns the ubiquitous blue and white gingham (you know the one), so this subtle change commands more attention.
For years, I had hunted for a golf polo that fit me like a real polo. All I could find were baggy tents until I strolled into Golfsmith one day last year and tried one of these on. It’s the best fitting golf shirt I’ve ever had. Big thanks to UA for cutting a performance polo the way a polo is supposed to be cut. And don’t worry, you won’t lose range of motion or 20 yards off your drive.
I got to try these when they were delivered to our office for product photography, and they’re pretty slick. These will make a great summer shoe with shorts or swim trunks whether you’re going to the bars or the lake or wherever. The easy lacing system is awesome and incredibly convenient. The next time you want to wear flip-flops to work or to go out, grab these instead for an instant upgrade.
Arc’teryx Marin Perfomance Shorts
Arc’teryx is arguably the best brand in the world when it comes to performance gear. Their outerwear is legendary, so that gives me a lot of confidence in their gym gear as well. At $65, they’re already cheaper than a pair of Lululemon shorts, and I love this blue color called “Macaw,” it really pops.
Ok, can you tell I like grey yet? Look, neutrals are in right now, and this is the best fitting trucker I’ve tried since the OG (Patagonia’s). The pinched front panel calls out the shape of old school rope hats, adding a little extra dynamic that I really like.
I once tried to conceptualize a Rowdy Gentleman tee that looked like a neon cocktail sign. It made it to production, but I’ve got to admit, TravisMathew executed their version much better.
Shwood is doing something pretty unique in the sunglasses game with the addition of real wood accents. My favorite iterations are ones that use the gorgeous wood inlays on the arms of the sunglasses, as opposed to rendering the entire frame in wood. The Canby is a perfect example. Pairing the elm burl accents with a timeless shape is an excellent combination and the perfect way to step up your shades game in a big way..

I’m not saying those J Brand twill pants are super nice, but for $176 they better be. Frank & Oak sells similar twill pants for like a third of the price. I have 4 pairs from there and they’re great.
Those J Brand chinos are by far my favorite pants, and I’ve tried every brand we carry. Not cheap though.
I’m not sure how dialed in Grandex is on the pgp demographic. With “problem” as part of the name, $176 for pants is pretty aggressive.
Or you could hit up visually similar items from J. Crew, Nordstrom Rack, etc for a fraction of the price and spend that money on booze, rent, food, or whatever. Fit > brand, everyday.

Agreed. But recently I did get a pair of lulu shorts, and damn they are seriously the most comfortable shorts I have ever worn. Will I buy more? Not likely at the price, but I think having a pair is worth it.

It is, but grey goes with everything, meaning you’ll be able to wear pretty much anything in your closet with your new grey pants/shirt/hat/etc.
