Working Remotely Just Means You’re Happier And More Productive, Says Study

Are you currently working remotely and not stuck in a cube? Well congrats, because according to a new study you’re probably happier than the rest of us.

According to the study conducted by an employee engagement firm, TINYpulse, which polled over 200,000 employees in different work arrangements, there were four main takeaways from their findings, most of which should not surprise you.

Remotes Are Happier

Using a scale of 1-10 to measure how happy remote employees were, those who worked from home outscored their cube warrior counterparts 8.10 to 7.42. While this bump in happiness may not seem like much, think to yourself, “Would I rather take home that 7 from the bar or pull a solid 8?”

Remotes Have Higher Productivity

Remote employees overwhelmingly said that they get more work done. With that being said, I still don’t see how I’d get anything done without slapping on some khakis and having to appear to be a productive human to the outside world.

Remotes Have Clear Goals

While many of us may report into the office and seemingly have no direction, remote employees reported just the opposite. For example, Dave gave me a clear goal to get this done by 10:30, and as I sit here pounding the keys frantically at 10:40, I realize that I’ve failed my goal. PGP.

Remotes Feel More Valued

According to the study, remote employees also felt more valued than their cubicle counterparts. Remotes felt more love overall even though they had a lower rating for their relationships with their coworkers. Although an invite to the company Christmas party might help with that this year. *Cough Cough*

After perusing all of this research, I now must think of a way to find out how to convince my managers it’s imperative for the Company to find a way to let me remote in at least one day a week. I mean how unhappy can you be sitting around on your laptop in pajamas all day long?

    Mr. Incredible

I have a wife and a three year old. My office at work is a quiet sanctuary versus working from home. Less on-the-clock fapping though.

    Bourbon is my social crutch

I get to work remotely, but it’s mostly because I travel all the time for work. Sometimes though, I have to roll into the office just to put in face time so I don’t go insane
